What role do you hope to play on the Board?
I think I can offer a different perspective from a small, independent/family-owned brokerage on the outskirts of the Tri-County area.
What Association benefits and/or offerings have provided you the most value in your business?
I think the newsletters/emails are extremely beneficial in keeping us up to date with anything going on regarding our area and industry. I also greatly appreciate the amount and variety of classes and webinars offered by our local Association.
What industry trends do you feel will affect our association in the upcoming years?
The NAR® settlement regarding commissions will likely take the front seat for the foreseeable future… I think it is going to be extremely important to educate our fellow REALTORS® on how to properly inform consumers about the settlement and industry changes. I think education of REALTORS® has always been the top priority – and it will be more important than ever.
What do you think should be the priority issues being addressed by the Association today?
Keeping fellow Realtors to a high educational and ethical standard. I think the percentage of consumers that feel we are overpaid or even completely unnecessary in a transaction is continually increasing – and educating fellow REALTORS® is the best way to combat that.
Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?
I am a proud second-generation REALTOR® and would love to see one or both of my son’s follow in my footsteps. Because of that, I want to do my part to ensure that being a REALTOR® today is as great of a career path for them as it has been for me. And while our current BOD is doing an amazing job, I think that there is not enough representation from independent brokerages.
