What industry trends do you feel will affect our association in the upcoming years?
A lack of housing inventory and affordability are clearly the two largest issues affecting real estate today. Without either, the American Dream and homeownership for all is in jeopardy. The lack of consistent revenue/income is a direct financial threat to our highly skilled and seasoned brokers and agents alike. This could directly impact our industry, our association, and membership. Inflation and the rising cost of components, from lumber to labor, will also continue to directly impact the future of housing and its affordability.
What do you think should be the priority issues being addressed by the Association today?
I believe that member engagement via effective communication and education should continue to be our top priority. The industry will continue to evolve and adapt, and with that we will need to continue to anticipate the needs of our brokers and members. Perhaps surveying (Survey Monkey) our brokers and engaged members should become something that we do quarterly. With their direct feedback to specific industry questions/concerns, we might be able to better discern where we need to focus our efforts. Information is power. To me, a continued focus on education, training, and professionalism is critical to our future while we continue to demonstrate the value of membership through tangible member benefits and services to the majority of our members.
Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?
I’d like to continue to serve our profession and members. In my opinion, there is no greater opportunity in our industry than to serve on our local real estate association board. I will utilize my professional knowledge and experience to the best of my ability to benefit all of our members.
