Janice Brown, SRS
Wagner Inc. Real Estate
7 Years Active in Real Estate
What was your career prior to real estate, if applicable?
Before getting into real estate, I owned and operated Main Line Chocolates. Main Line Chocolates provided gift giving services to corporate clients. Our mission was to provide unmatched customer service and decadent chocolate gifts. Our product line was unique, delicious and made a lasting impression. Everyday we made someone smile!
What type of leadership roles have you held outside of real estate?
I’ve served in the following roles outside of real estate:
- Director of Marketing / Benner’s Gardens
- BBBS – Mentor/Big Sister: 12 years
- Owned and Operated Main Line Chocolates
As a voice for your colleagues, what strengths/insights will you bring to the Board discussions?
I have an entrepreneurial spirit and an unwavering quest for knowledge. I also derive great satisfaction when collaborating with my peers toward a common goal. My experience as a small business owner has provided valuable insight with regard to branding, advertising, mentoring and navigating the sales cycle. I enjoy networking and look forward to the opportunity to attend Suburban West events and enhance the member’s experience.
What issues do you feel the Association should be addressing?
Technology is changing the landscape of real estate. REALTORS® have the option to choose multiple forms of communication when navigating a transaction. Some communication styles are efficient, however they may not be effective. Technology and communication styles can be the difference between a successful or failed transaction. Education of best practices and the Pro’s and Con’s would be a valuable resource to Suburban West members.
Why are you interested in serving as a member of the Board of Directors?
I vividly remember my Suburban West orientation. I thought of the orientation as a formality or next step. The staff, the content of the orientation and professionalism exceeded my expectations. I quickly chose to utilize the MCE Season pass in order to gain more industry knowledge and also had the opportunity to be a part of the Leadership Development Program. Suburban West has helped me gain momentum in my career and I would like to give back. I would like to serve as a member of the Board of Directors to help maintain the professional excellence of Suburban West. My goal is to connect with members of the real estate industry, join forces with common goals and enhance the membership experience.
