Michael Howell, SRS

Realty One Group Restore, Collegeville

20 Years Active in Real Estate

What was your career prior to real estate, if applicable?

I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart. I began a career in Barbering in 1994 and over the years built a team of barbering professionals to form and open my own Barber Shop/Salon, “Like Mike’s” in my home town of Phoenixville in 2009. After 10 years of serving the community, and simultaneously growing a Real Estate Team, and opening my first Franchise, the time had come to sell the Barber Shop business and provide the opportunity for a new young professional to set up their own shop.

What type of leadership roles have you held outside of real estate?

Currently I am a John Maxwell certified coach, speaker, and trainer with an emphasis on teaching leadership and personal growth skills to both Real Estate and other Business Professionals.  Prior to launching the Realty One Group Restore Franchise, I served on the Associate Leadership Council (ALC) for Keller Williams.  I also led the Growth Committee at KW which focused on recruiting, training, and retaining real estate professionals.

Currently I serve on of the Board of Directors at Victory Church in Audubon, PA. Victory is one of only a few multi-cultural churches in our area and serves a congregation of over 1000 members.  I am also a volunteer LifeGroup Leader with a focus and passion for helping Men grow and thrive in their relationships and families.

Served in various roles for Phoenixville Area Positive Alternatives (PAPA) bringing free sports services and afterschool programs for under privileged youth.  I also serve and support the Strive Initiative in Pottstown that provides opportunities for under privileged youth to learning creative arts, music, and theatre. Served as a volunteer Youth Sport’s Coach for both basketball and football teams for 10+ years.

As a voice for your colleagues, what strengths/insights will you bring to the Board discussions?

Leadership- I believe everything rises and falls on leadership. I hold myself to a very high standard of professionalism, Integrity, and Customer service. I’m also a lifelong learner and believe that our business grows to the extent that we grow, therefore I will always encourage our members to commit to continuous education and to give back in service at our local and state level.

Integrity- Do the right thing in all things. I have a saying in my office that lays the foundation of how our office operates, it simply says “we don’t have to agree on everything, but we must agree on one thing, and that is, we need to treat people (agents, co-ops, clients, and the public) the way we would like to be treated.  This aligns perfectly with NAR’s Code of Ethics “Golden Rule” stated in the Pathway to Professionalism outline, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

Professional Standards, Customer Service, and Diversity Inclusion.

Vision on future growth of the Association- Identify next generation of leaders in our industry.

What issues do you feel the Association should be addressing?

Professionalism, Education, Personal Growth, Embracing Diversity, and Financial Management as a business owner in our Industry.

Why are you interested in serving as a member of the first Board of Directors of Tri-County Suburban REALTORS®?

I’ve always been a very ambitious and determined person that loves helping people grow both personally and professionally, and I’m very passionate about service. I’ve been very fortunate to have had several great mentors in my life’s journey.  The one thing they all have taught and shown me is that as you serve others it actually helps you grow in the process.  I am a person that always strives to be the best version of myself that I can be, and I believe that by serving as a member of the first Board of Directors of Tri-County Suburban REALTORS® this will allow me another opportunity to grow, while doing something I’m very passionate about doing, which is helping people wherever I’m called to serve.
