Dan Helwig, Inc. REALTORS®
23 Years of REALTOR® Membership

Please expand on your previous leadership experience.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to serving both the real estate profession and my community through leadership, collaboration, and strategic planning.

I currently serve as Broker of Record for Dan Helwig, Inc. REALTORS®, where I have been responsible for guiding our brokerage since 2011 while continuing to actively represent buyers and sellers.

Within organized real estate, I previously served for fourteen years as a Director of the Montgomery County Association of REALTORS® before continuing my service as a Director of Tri-County Suburban REALTORS® following the merger. During that time, I have served on the Leadership Development Committee, Strategic Planning Task Force, Candidate Evaluation Task Force, SUPRA Task Force, Professional Standards Appeal Panels, and the Montgomery County Bar Liaison Committee. I was also inducted into the Pennsylvania RPAC Hall of Fame, reflecting my long-standing commitment to advocacy.

Outside of the Association, I have served on the Springfield Township Planning Commission since 2008 and currently serve as Chair. I have helped lead updates to the Township’s Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, Comprehensive Plan, and Historic Preservation initiatives. I also currently serve as the Secretary and Past President of the Springfield Township Rotary Club and have previously served on the Board of the Springfield Township Historical Society.

These leadership experiences have reinforced the importance of listening, building consensus, and making thoughtful decisions that strengthen both our profession and the communities we serve.

What role do you hope to play on the Board?

I hope to continue to be a collaborative, thoughtful, and engaged Director who helps the Association continue to evolve while remaining focused on serving its members. I believe Board members should listen first, ask thoughtful questions, and make decisions that benefit the membership as a whole.

My background in brokerage management, municipal planning, strategic planning, and community leadership allows me to bring a practical perspective to discussions surrounding professionalism, advocacy, education, and member services. I also hope to mentor emerging leaders and encourage greater member involvement so that our Association continues to cultivate future leadership.

What Association benefits and/or offerings have provided you the most value in your business?

The Association has provided tremendous value throughout my career, particularly through continuing education, legal and risk management resources, advocacy efforts, and leadership opportunities.

Serving on committees and task forces has allowed me to build meaningful relationships with colleagues across our region while gaining a broader understanding of our industry beyond my own brokerage. Professional Standards, strategic planning initiatives, RPAC involvement, and leadership development have all contributed to my professional growth and have made me a better broker, REALTOR®, and leader.

What industry trends do you feel will affect our association in the upcoming years?

Our industry continues to experience rapid change. The implementation of practice changes following the NAR settlement, ongoing affordability challenges, evolving consumer expectations, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and increasing regulatory requirements will all shape our profession over the coming years.

At the same time, consumers continue to expect greater transparency and professionalism from REALTORS®. Our Association has an important role in equipping members with education, technology resources, advocacy, and practical tools to help them navigate these changes successfully while reinforcing the value REALTORS® bring to every transaction.

What do you think should be the priority issues being addressed by the Association today?

I believe our priorities should include protecting private property rights, strengthening advocacy efforts at the local and state levels, enhancing professionalism, supporting members through industry changes, and investing in leadership development.

I believe our priorities should include protecting private property rights, strengthening advocacy efforts at the local and state levels, enhancing professionalism, supporting members through industry changes, and investing in leadership development.

As our profession evolves, it is equally important that we continue demonstrating the value of REALTOR® membership through relevant education, legal guidance, networking opportunities, and resources that help members build successful, ethical businesses. We should also continue finding ways to engage newer members so they see organized real estate as an essential partner throughout their careers.

Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?

Organized real estate has played an important role throughout my career, and I believe in giving back to the profession that has given me so much. Serving on the Board is an opportunity to contribute my experience while helping guide the Association through a period of significant change.

I enjoy collaborating with fellow leaders, listening to diverse perspectives, and working toward thoughtful solutions that benefit our members. My goal is to help ensure that our Association remains innovative, financially strong, member-focused, and positioned to support REALTORS® for years to come.
